Latest Santee Cooper Fishing Report
Provided by Captain Joe Dennis with Father and Kyle Austin
Striper
Look for Stripers in 35 to 45 foot of water mainly in the creek channels and up on the hills. Fish live blueback herring on Carolina Rigs. Mark the fish and try to put your baits right above them.
Good number are showing in the Santee river near Packs. Cut and live herring on Carolina rig works the best.
Bass
Bass report from Matt Murphy at Phantom Outdoors
April fishing report.
With the warmer temperatures approaching and full moon the fish will move shallow. Concentrate on black water ponds, Trees, and spawning flats. Texas rigged senko or creature baits will be key in early March. Also this is a great time to be throwing a hollow body frog and a buzzbait.
Crappie
Crappie are being caught in 6-8 ft around trees and grass. Small jigs or minnows under a cork works the best. Some fish have spawned and worked back to the 10-15 ft brush.
Catfish
Lots of Catfish being caught around the cypress trees and stumps in 5 to 10 foot of water. Carolina rigs with cut shed and cut Herring will be your best baits for the shallow water fish.
