We only have a few days left before striper season goes out (June 15th). There is still plenty of fish in 35 to 48 foot of water in the creeks. Fish vertical Carolina rigs over the bait and fish with live herring and gizzard Shad. Santee river near packs landing is still producing a good amount of stripers working their way back into the lake system. Live herring, Shad and cut herring on a Carolina rig Fished on the bottom seems to be the best choice.
The bream have been hot and heavy on the new moon and Full moon spawning. Look for The beds in 3-10 ft of water. Side scan is a good way of Locating the beds. Fish corks With crickets, wax and Catawba worms. A scattering of shellcracker are still being caught around saw grass and cypress trees in 3-5 ft of water.
most of the Crappie have left the trees and are now congregated on brush piles in 10 to 25 foot. Fish jigs tipped with minnows vertical over the brush piles and you can also cast small jigs to the brush.
The night time bite has started on Santee. Fish 3-6 ft in the trees and smaller creek in shallow water. Cut shad and herring will be your best choice of bait. Lots of catfish in the 25-35ft creeks. Drift with Santee cooper rigs with cut herring, shad and fresh shrimp.
